2024-03-19
In a decision dated March 13, the Office for Planning Approval and Transport (APV) approved the application from Elbehafen Energy Port & Logistics GmbH (EEPLG) for the early start of construction (VZM) of the new pier for the floating liquefied natural gas terminal (FSRU). The approval notice was handed over to the EEPLG as the project sponsor on March 19th. It thus receives approval for the following construction measures:
Production of the foundation piles
Dismantling the temporary construction dam
Construction of infrastructural superstructures
Manufacture of rainwater drainage systems
As soon as all the requirements of the notice have been implemented, work on inserting the foundation piles is expected to begin in April. “The construction work will not take place at night, on weekends or on public holidays, but only from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.,” emphasizes managing director Frank Schnabel. The piles are mainly inserted using the noise-reduced vibration method. Only the last three meters are done using pile driving technology. The pile-driving work necessary to erect the foundation piles is spread over the course of the day and only takes a few hours each day. “We ask for your understanding for the temporary construction noise. We will inform residents in a timely manner and always keep them up to date on the project steps,” said Schnabel.
